Job Description:

Position: Heavy Driver Department: Transportation Location: Methley

Job Summary: As a Heavy Driver, you will play a vital role in our transportation operations. You will be responsible for driving and operating heavy commercial vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, or buses, to transport goods, equipment, or passengers to assigned destinations. Your primary focus will be to ensure the safe and timely delivery of materials while adhering to traffic rules, company policies, and industry regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and drive heavy commercial vehicles, including trucks, trailers, or buses, to transport goods, equipment, or passengers as assigned.
  • Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment and secure items properly to prevent damage during transit.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely delivery and minimize fuel consumption.
  • Perform routine inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in proper working order, report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
  • Comply with all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies, ensuring the safety of yourself, other road users, and the cargo being transported.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate pick-ups, deliveries, and any special requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service by handling inquiries and addressing concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and overall appearance of the vehicle are maintained.

Requirements:

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • Proven experience as a Heavy Driver or similar role, with a clean driving record.
  • Solid knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safety procedures for operating heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to read maps, follow GPS instructions, and plan routes efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe driving practices.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical stamina to handle long hours of driving and loading/unloading cargo.
  • Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
